call it a must-read for kernel beginners

This dated book doesn't cover everything about the Unix kernel but that's ok, whatever topics it does cover, it covers them lucidly. A very fine read.

Lots of Really Useful Information

I was really impressed with Web Redesign: Workflow That Works mainly because it covers practical ways to manage projects. As an individual devleoper with a small firm, their suggestions and forms have proven to be exceptionally helpful.
It didn't go heavily into development or code but if I want that, I'll pick up a book on that subject. What the authors did do was convey simple, practical and infinately usable information on web site design projects.
I thank you and, no doubt, my clients thank you as well.

Great Resource

I have to admit, when I got this book I intended to use it as a learning guide (even though he tells you that's not what this book is about). I struggled, but got through it. I then went and read additional documentation (online, available freely) just to help me get comfortable.
Now, I use it as my only reference guide. Once you have the basics, it clearly explains other topics that you may not be as familiar with. But you get it, b/c Python is so well structured. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a resource. If you are new to Python and have no other experience programming, this may not be the book for you...but after you learn the language, I'm sure you would still find it useful.

Text is often Inacurate or Outright Incorrect

No way! There is no way that this book is worth (the money)! As usual, the college textbook market continues to drastically inflate the price of textbooks. Some textbooks are useful at least as a reference...not this one. While it does contain all of the latest buzzwords, if this is what we are arming the leaders of tomorrow with...
Buy it if you must for a class, however, keep your receipt and prepare to get ripped off at buyback time!
