Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
This is a great book. Nobody else does it better.

I've been looking to develop my programming skills for over a year and this book has really helped me move beyond the basic MS MFC style books into a new realm of programming. The coverage of Direct X is great. I'm a newbie to DX and this book has given me the knowledge to get the ball rolling on my own. Thanks.

Title: Internet Poker: How to Play and Beat Online Poker Games
Publisher: Conjelco
Authors: Lou Krieger, Kathleen Keller Watterson
Rating: 2/5

Not much here...

Signing up and playing for free at any online site will teach you 90% of what's in this book. I've played a little over two weeks online, and found nothing in this book that wasn't already obvious. The practice hands are a useful idea, but while I waited for this book to arrive, I've played hundreds and hundreds of hands and started reading books on poker.

I skimmed and understood everything in this book except the practice hands in a couple hours. It contains nothing that you would ever refer to once you know how to play.

If you want to learn poker and play online, buy a book about POKER, not online play. You can figure out the online play without much time or effort.

Title: CCNA INTRO Exam Certification Guide (CCNA Self-Study, 640-821, 640-801), First Edition

Everything you need - Well almost.

This is a great book if you are taking the 2 test approach towards your CCNA. Everything on the exam is in this book. I would have given 5 stars however, a beginner in subnetting would be at a loss due to relatively poor coverage of the fundamentals in this book. I had some experience before studying this volume and Mr. Odom managed to confuse me. If you use this book for the INTRO exam, I highly recommend finding an alternate source for subnetting(there are many good free tutorials; try Boson.com.

A must read for every serious software engineer.

I'm a senior software engineer currently working inthe UK. Some time ago days I searched the internetto find some information about configuration managementin order to prepare an internal seminar for somecolleagues. I needed something easily explained thatcould be used as a base to prepare a seminar forbeginners.Among other documents I came across the last public draft ofthis book. I've read it from cover to cover and I'veto say that is an excellent source of readily usable
information. The patterns can be used in the same orderthey are exposed to solve the most common SCM problems. So I've used it as the main source ofinformation for the preparation of the seminar. All in all is really an excellent book really useful for beginners and experts as well.I think it will soon become a must read for every serioussoftware engineer.
