Extreme Help

I thought that this book was EXTREMELY helpful to learning how to program games and other useful programs (I used it to make a program that finds areas of regular polygons to help me with math homework for example :) ) This book will help you learn the basics of programming which should be helpful for learning more complex languages. It may be difficult learning stuff like Loops or Arrays but the author helps you tremendously in those areas so they become quite easy. I really enjoyed this book and the game at the end of it, and I'd rate it a 6/5 if I was able to.

Waste of your time and money

I bought this book hoping that it would have a complete alphabetical list of Javascript objects, functions, operators and easy to understand examples and explanations of each. I was imagining that because this book is represented as a 5 star rated "Bible" that there might even be a tutorial. Instead, I found this book a dry theoretical 1236 page tome that is long on theory, and impossibly organized. Even if I know the exact name of the Javascript function/command/object, I had to page through multiple sections to locate it. There is no tutorial and in my experience this book is impossible to use without reading the whole thing. The people that rate this clunker a 5 star have a great sense of humor.

Superb Reference

This is a wonderful reference book. Not for the beginner but the quality examples and the entire demonstrate concept is truly wonderful. This is done without being to fundamental or dry. It covers the basic important appearance of JavaScript that you would expect in any book covering a progress language. The explanation of questions you may have are already answered. The reading goes by quickly and you just seem to understand what the author is saying.I highly recommend this book to all programers.

Quick and Dirty, as it Implies

Ok, I would give it 4 1/2 if I could, but can't so I will round down. If you are learning SQL or are going to in a class room, this is a GREAT way to start, even before you start taking lessons. this book will break up learning into "10 minute" lessons, which the first few can be done thourghly in 5. (Possibly because I had already learned it but oh well). Anyway, if you go through every lesson seriously, you will walk away with a GOOD knowledge of SQL, take it from someone who uses SQL in the field.
