Simply the best

I have the Access 97 version of this book and thought it was time to upgrade - I needn't have bothered. 95% of this book is the same as the earlier edition. Apart from a very basic chapter on ADO there was little to distinguish this book from the 97 developers handbook. In fact a there are parts of the book that talk about "cool new features" that were introduced in Access 95! If you don't have an earlier edition of this book, and you are a hardcore developer, then it's an essential purchase - otherwise try the volume 2 enterprise edition. Maybe it contains all the "cool new features".

Title: InDesign CS Killer Tips (Killer Tips)
Publisher: New Riders Press
Authors: Scott Kelby, Terry White
Rating: 4/5

Well Worth The Money!

The book has a bunch of tips, roughly 2 per page, like the other books in the series. There's a mix of 3 kinds of tips -- ones that are common to other programs, like Illustrator and Photoshop, ones that are unique to InDesign, but either fairly obvious, or just uninteresting, and ones that are unique and non-obvious. There are enough of the latter to warrant buying the book, if you want to learn the shortcuts that make you efficient with the program. The CS series of programs no longer come with manuals by default, and the manuals that are available from Adobe by special order are much thinner than in past releases. So we're going to need books like this to reveal the shortcuts, especially those that don't have corresponding menu items!
Note, however, that the current price Amazon is listing, $39.99, is off by $10, since the actual retail price of the book is only $29.99.

Get This & Help Repair The Web

This book helped me tremendously in design. I can see where I was wrong, being bells & whistle man. Useability, simplicity, bring forth the content the surfer seeks. That is the purpose of the web. This book shows to methods to make your site just that, useable. That makes the surfer return. I'm anxious for the promised second part.
Great investment for the serious designer. Written in plain English.

An excellent overall web programming book.

CWB is wonderful book. I look through a lot of similar books and did not find anything which might be compared to it. It really makes difference by its conceptual orientation backed up with illustrative examples. Currently I am in the middle of this book and I have feeling that I am moving in right direction.
